Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Ivato Airport Transfer to the hotel.

You will be picked up by a guide and accompanied to the hotel. After having a long flight you can relax at the Hôtel Restaurant La Ribaudière Antananarivo,a 4 star hotel.

Day 2: Visit Andasibe National Park

You travel to the Andasibe National Park with your accompanying guide where the biggest lemur "INDRI-INDRI" is waiting for you.Overnight at the hotel Andringitra. Vakona Forest Lodge, Hotel 4 star.

ANDASIBE

The Andasibe Mantadia National Park was founded in 1989 and covers two areas with its 154 km2. Both parts belonged to the same wet forest and were divided into two parts due to human activities. You can discover different flora and fauna in this park, especially what makes Madagascar so unique. In the Andasibe Mantadia National Park orchids, (screw) palms, the heavy precious wood rosewood and the "peeling tree" Vakoana as well as all kinds of endemic colorful flowers grow. Three quarters of the 1200 plant species are found only here in Andasibe Mantadia National Park. Most of the trees bloom all year round. In addition, the small rivers are home to some endemic fish and hundreds of insects, including some exceptionally large and colorful butterflies. The Indri-Indri is the star of the national park. Furthermore, there are day-active (Diadem-Sifaka, Black and White Vari and the Grey Bamboo lemur) as well as night-active lemur species (the small mouse lemur and the Aye Aye (finger animal) as well as the Fossa, the Brown Maki and the Eastern Wool lemur. You will also encounter a variety of birds, reptiles and amphibians.

Day 3: Andringitra

ANDRINGITRA

Because of its indescribable beauty of the impressive mountain massif and the spectacular panorama, the Andringitra massif has been protected since 1927. Even then it was realized that only a few areas on earth have a similarly high biodiversity: More than 100 different species of birds, 13 species of lemurs and about 40 other species of mammals find their home here. The funny looking Kattas populate large parts of the Andringitra National Park. More than 50 frog species live in the protected area and about

1000 plant species from Andringitra are known until today. Its highest peak is Pic Boby. With 2.658 m height it is the second highest mountain on Madagascar. Only since the area was designated a national park in 1999 as part of Madagascar's environmental action plan has there been a significant influx of visitors. The climate varies from humid, tropical conditions in the eastern lowland tropical rainforests to extremely low temperatures at higher altitudes, which can drop to -8°C.

Day 4 : Andringitra - Ranomafana

After breakfast, there will be a possibility of hiking in Andringitra . Departure in the afernoon, visit Ranomafana National Park. In this park you can see chameleons, birds and find lemurs. They are looking forward to your visit. Night at the Le Grenat hotel Ranomafana,a 4 star hotel.

RANOMAFANA

Ranomafana is without doubt one of the most spectacular national parks of Madagascar and together with Isalo and Andasibe N.P. one of the most visited national parks of the island. 12 species of lemurs are indigenous to the area and are easy to observe for the pleasure of the tourists. A special attraction are the golden bamboo lemurs, some of which are not far from the entrance. There are also other mammals such as 7 species of tenreks, carnivorous bats, the Malagasy striped civet and some mongooses in the beautiful Ranomafana National Park. There are at least 115 catalogued bird species, 30 of which are endemic to this area and are at home in Ranomafana.

Day 5: Ranomafana - Manakara

Hiking in the park, after breakfast for discover the fauna and flora. It is through well traced paths in the tropical rainforest that we will discover ferns, orchids, medicinal plants, rosewood and other rare trees... Day 6: Manakara

In the morning, we visit the Commissioner's Hole, then we canoe on the famous Pangalane canal. This afternoon, let's continue to relax on the Beach.Overnight in Manakara H1 hotel, 4 star hotel.

MANAKARA

Discovery of the Commissioner's Hole and a canoe trip on the famous Pangalane Canal. The majority of the inhabitants of Manakara belong to the ethnic group of the Antehimoro or Antimorona (morona means shore). The daily activities of the inhabitants consist of fishing, carpet weaving, canoe building and the production of Antehimoro paper. This product has established the reputation of the region and is used to make scrolls, cards or postcards.

Day 7: Manakara - Fianarantsoa

Train trip to Fianarantsoa. On the way, you will be able to observe nature and the green landscape, as well as the small village and its inhabitants in the middle of the street. You will spend the night at the Lac Hotel Sahambavy Fianarantsoa,a 4 star hotel.

TRIPS TO FIANARANTSOA

The trip from Manakara to Fianarantsoa stretches over a total distance of just over 160 kilometers, crossing more than 60 bridges and through almost 50 different tunnels. The journey is carried out at a speed of about 15 kilometers per hour, and the doors normally remain open during the journey. In most other European countries, train travel has become so commonplace that few people can enjoy it. In Madagascar, the rules are quite different, because a train ride is much more spectacular on the island and is by far not possible everywhere. On the way you can observe nature and the green landscape as well as the small village and its inhabitants in the middle of the road.

Day 8: Fianarantsoa

In the afternoon, visit the town of Betsileo and also the ideal places to taste the good wine.Night at the hotel Sahambavy Fianarantsoa,4 star Hotel.

FIANARANTSOA

In the south of Madagascar lies the city of Fianarantsoa. The capital of the Betsileo tribe, built on the top of the Ivoenana hill, is located about 400 km from Antananarivo. The translation of the place name would be Fianarantsoa, the city where good is learned. It is also the place where you can taste good wine. On the way to the small town you will discover a more modern city, where the commercial and industrial area is located, which contributes to the economy of the region. The third level of Fianarantsoa, called Upper Town, on the other hand, is the true sanctuary of the remains of the past and the history of the town.

Day 9: Fianarantsoa - Antananarivo

The adventures are almost over. In the morning, you go to Antananarivo. On the way, you will discover beautiful landscapes. Night at the hotel La Ribaudiere Antananarivo, 4 star hotel.

Day 10: Antananarivo

ANTANANARIVO

Antananarivo abbreviated Tana, formerly also Tananarive is the capital and with 1,816,000 inhabitants also by far the largest city of Madagascar [1] The administrative seat of the province Antananarivo is located at an altitude of up to 1435 m above sea level in the central mountainous region of the island. Antananarivo is the geographical, administrative and industrial centre of the country

AMBOHIMANGA ROVA

The Rova of Antananarivo is the former royal palace of Madagascar. It is located at 1462 m above sea level on the highest point of the capital, the Analamanga, almost 200 m above the districts of the lower city. It is the resting place of the country's greatest monarchs: The most impressive stone tombs are located to the left of the main gate. The simple shades of gray are those of kings, while those of queens are painted red (red was the color of the nobility).

Day 11-13: Nosy Sakatia – Nosy Iranja

Transfer to the airport to Nosy Be. Day of relaxation on the beach Sakatia with the calm sounds of the sea. Enjoy the sunset. Overnight Hotel Danae Beach Sakatia, 4 star hotel.

NOSY SAKATIA

Nosy Sakatia is quiet and small, it is part of a protected ecosystem and famous for its orchids. It is an easy place to wander around and has several beautiful beaches. Snorkeling is excellent here and there are some excellent dive sites off the island, including a protected zone for green turtles. The island is located just off the west coast of Nosy Be.

Day 14: Discover Island Nosy Iranja (1:00h transfer)

After breakfast you will discover a special island of Madagascar named Nosy Iranja. You will go there by boat and the trip will take around 1:30 hours. There you will discover an open way between the sea to a small island near Nosy Iranja. You can also visit the place. Additionally there is the possibility to have a look at a beautiful panorama. You can also swim there and spend your time on the beach. We will prepare lunch for you for free.Later in the afternoon you will return to Nosy Sakatia. Overnight in Hotel Danae Beach, 4 star hotel.

NOSY IRANJA

Nosy Iranja is made of two smaller islets : Nosy Iranja Be and Nosy Iranja Kely. Those bits of land are connected by a thin 2 km long stretch of sand. At low tide, you will take full advantage of the place, but watch out for the rising tide! You will be delighted by the landscapes’ beauty, turquoise blue water surrounding the lagoon which reflects the sunlight and makes the sea sparkle. This peaceful place will delight those seeking relaxation and a change of scenery. They will also have the chance to enjoy any aquatic and land activities they want!

Day 15: Nosy be - Antananarivo - Europa
