Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome at Ivato airport - transfer to the hotel

They are fetched by an English-speaking tour guide and accompanied to the hotel. After a long flight you can relax at the Hôtel Restaurant La Ribaudière Antananarivo, a 4-star hotel.

2nd day: Antananarivo - Antsirabe (168 km, about 4 hours)

After breakfast we drove to Antsirabe. The trip takes about 4 hours. Arriving in Antsirabe, you can discover the city of Antsirabe and get to know the culture of the ethnic group Vakinankaratra. Overnight stay in Plumeria Hotel, 3-star hotel.

ANTSIRABE

Antsirabe is located 168 km south of Antananarivo. The city and its surroundings are rich in history. The quality of its soils and waters with a high concentration of mineral salts gives it the name Antsirabe, which means "where there is a lot of salt". It is also called the "city of water", where you can enjoy its baths with their therapeutic virtues. There are three lakes in the area: Tritriva, Andranomafana and Andraikiba.

Day 3: Visit of small villages Andraikiba, Tritriva and Betafo (about 60 km)

Today we will drive along a side road. After breakfast we will drive to Andraikiba. There we will enjoy the beauty of the lake. Then the journey continues to Tritriva. In Tritriva we will have lunch at the restaurant-hotel. After lunch the journey continues to Betafo. In Betafo we will discover Tatamarina Lake. In the evening we will return to Antsirabe. Overnight stay at the Plumeria Hotel, a 3-star hotel.

ANDRAIKIBA

Lake Andraikiba is located about 7 km west of Antsirabe. Its name comes from the cry of a young pregnant woman who drowned there during a swimming competition with her rival, organized by her own husband. People in the area often like to tell other legends, which are as amusing and striking as the others. This lake strongly resembles a circle with a circumference of 5 km, surrounded by some tree plants and the remains of a nautical complex from the colonial period.

TRITRIVA

Lake Tritriva is a volcanic lake located about 27 km from Antsirabe and has a shape like Madagascar. The water level of the lake sinks during the rainy season and rises when the monsoon rains have stopped. The story of Lake Tritriva is the story of Rabeniomby and Ravolahanta, two lovers who committed suicide because of their forbidden love in the lake. According to local legends and beliefs, after the suicide of the two cursed lovers, their souls were depicted in the intertwined trunks of a tree growing on a rock on the shore of the lake. They would bleed if they were cut off.

BETAFO

Betafo is located 22 km west of Antsirabe. It is a charming town that will seduce more than one visitor. It is a typical Merina village, specialized in wrought iron, but also has an agricultural vocation. Its lush rice fields, its plateaus with cutlery from various plantations and the joy of life of its inhabitants have created the charm of this unique destination.

4th day: Antsirabe - Miandrivazo (222 km, about 6 hours)

After breakfast we continued our journey to Miandrivazo. The town is famous for being traditionally inhabited by cattle breeders. Today we will discover an exceptionally beautiful landscape with many mountains. We will take a break during our trip so that you can take good panoramic photos. MIANDRIVAZO

Discovery of the highlights of central Madagascar with arid areas on the west coast. The west is a dry area, but with often abundant rainfall from December to March. On the way there are beautiful natural and mountain landscapes to discover.

Day 5: Miandrivazo - Morondava (88 km, about 2 hours)

After breakfast we continued to Morondava. During the trip you can discover several small villages. The route is on National Road 35 from a distance of 88 km and the trip takes about 2 hours. Overnight stay in Chez maggie Hotel, 3-star hotel.

Day 6: Visiting of the town of Morondava

After breakfast we will take a walk through this city where you can learn about the daily life of the people. Also during the visit you will have the opportunity to discover the traditional dances of Sakalava de Menabe. Overnight stay at Chez maggie Hotel, 3-star hotel.

MORONDAVA

The town of Morondava is characterized by its famous Baobab Avenue, a real avenue of baobabs, which was protected as a natural monument only in July 2007. Morondava is a beautiful city to explore, as the beach there is perfect for a nice outing. All activities like diving, jet-skiing and more are possible in Morondava. The hotel is also very comfortable and can satisfy all the needs of the guests. From Morondava you can reach many communities by a side road.

Day 7: Visit of the small village Antsakamirohaka (7 km, about 30 minutes)

After breakfast we will drive to Antsakamirohaka. The drive takes about 30 minutes and is on a country road. On the way you can discover the life and culture of the Sakalava de Menabe ethnic group. Once we arrive in Antsakamirohaka, we will discover the interesting culture of the small village and its inhabitants. In the evening we will return to Morondava. ANTSAKAMIROHAKA

Antsakamirohaka is a small village in Morondava, a community not far from Morondava, which you can visit to explore the nature around Morondava. Discover a wonderful new species that specifies the Morondava region. A side road from Morondava will take you to this destination. When you arrive in this village, you can communicate with the villagers to discover their culture.

Day 8: Excursion in Belo sur Tsiribihina (95 km approx. 4 hours)

After breakfast we will drive to Belo sur Tsiribihina. It is 95 km from Morondava and the drive takes about 4 hours. On the way you will enjoy the beauty of the landscape. This will be another experience, because we will sleep in a tent.

BELO SUR TSIRIBIHINA

The Tsiribihina is a river that flows from the central plateau of Madagascar down to the west coast. A river cruise on the Tsiribihina and a visit to the so-called Tsingy of Bemaraha are highly recommended. This is probably one of the most extraordinary experiences or attractions you will ever find in Madagascar.

Day 9: Excursion in Belo sur Mer (80 km, about 3 hours)

After breakfast we will make an excursion in Belo sur Mer. The trip takes about 3 hours. Belo sur Mer is 80 km away from Morondava and you have to drive on a country road to reach it. On the way you will enjoy the beauty of the landscape. Once you arrive in Belo sur Mer you can discover the culture of the village and its inhabitants. There you also have the possibility to go diving. In the evening we will return to Morondava. Overnight stay in Chez maggie Hotel, 3-star hotel.

BELO SUR MER

Belo sur Mer is located 88 km south of Morondava on the Mozambique Channel. From Morondava it takes about 3 hours by car to reach this village in Vezo. The village with its small houses and huts is situated on the edge of a small lagoon with a beautiful beach. Nine coral-lined offshore islands offer excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities.

Day 10: Tsiribihina River Tour

Today you will sail on the longest river in Madagascar. On the way to discover the dry forest. Under a waterfall there is a nice place to swim. It is possible that lemurs could be here during this time. They will stay overnight in a tent.

11th day: Tsiribihina - National Park Belo sur Tsiribihina

The dream journey continues in the national park Belo sur Tsiribihina, located in the west of Madagascar. Here you can observe typical lemurs. Overnight stay in the hotel Tsingy Lodge, 4-star hotel

Day 12: Tsingy de Bemaraha

The exciting moment has finally arrived. A conducted excursion to Tsingy Bemaraha. It is the best view of the volcanic mountains in Madagascar. 86% of the 650 plant species of the national park are endemic, the other part is dry forest. There are predators like pit and ring-tailed mongoose. We will stay at the Hotel Le Soleil of Tsingy Lodge, a 4-star hotel.

TSINGY OF BEMARAHA

About 200 million years ago this unique landscape began to form. The limestone soil was pushed upwards, creating a plateau that was hollowed out by the heavy rains and over the years took on the present form of high limestone pillars. The integral reserve consists mainly of canyons, ravines, pristine forests, lakes and mangrove swamps, all of which have an amazing variety of fauna and flora. The rate of endemic species is about 85%, 47% are even locally endemic animals! The western slopes of the massif rise more gently and are mainly covered by dry deciduous forests, which are optimally adapted to the extreme climatic conditions. Also in the north the limestone profiles describe rather gentle hills, while in the south extensive elevations limit access extremely. In the middle of this difficult to access vegetation lies the beautiful Manambolo Gorge, where you can see waterfalls, lemurs and magnificent, untouched forests. The landscape here above the plateaus resembles a grass savannah. Within the deep gorges, however, the vegetation is very humid with small tropical forests and many liana plants.

Day 13: Back to Morondava (230 km)

After breakfast we will return to Morondava to discover other sides of the island. Overnight stay at Chez maggie Hotel, 3-star hotel.

Day 14: Bemaraha Tsingy - Manja (360 km)

After breakfast we will drive to Manja. It is 360 km away from Morondava. The drive is on a national road and a side road. On the way you will enjoy the beauty of the landscape. After a long drive you can rest in the hotel. Overnight stay in Kanto Hotel, a 2-star hotel.

MANJA

It is a municipality of the Atsimo-Andrefana region in Madagascar. The main crop in this region is rice. This city also has a very popular artistic culture in the south of Madagascar. Discovering this culture can give you the joy of travel.

Day 15: Excursion in Beharona (15 km, about 30 min)

After breakfast we will make an excursion in Beharona. The drive takes 30 minutes and you have to drive on a country road to reach Beharona. On the way you will enjoy the beauty of the landscape. Once you arrive in Beharona you can discover the culture of the village and its inhabitants. In the evening we returned to Manja. Overnight stay at the Kanto Hotel, a 2-star hotel.

BEHARONA

It is a small village south of Manja, which is easy to discover, because there is a beautiful kind of culture and a wonderful looking nature to discover.

Day 16: Manja - Morombe (120 km, about 4 hours)

After breakfast we continued to Morombe. Morombe is located 120 km away from Manja. The drive takes about 4 hours and is on a national road and a country road. After a long drive you can relax in the hotel. Overnight stay at the Auberge chez Laurette, 4-star hotel.

Day 17: Discovery of the town of Morombe

After breakfast you will discover the city of Morombe. In Morombe you will have the possibility to practice different activities such as: the visit of the craftsmen circuit which specifies the handicraft culture of Morombe. You will have lunch at the hotel. Overnight stay at the Auberge chez Laurette, 4-star hotel.

MOROMBE

Morombe is a town in the northwest of the Atsimo-Andrefana region of Madagascar. It is located on the coast of the Mozambique Channel and has an airfield east of the town. Morombe stands out for the beauty of its lagoons, which contain one of the largest and most beautiful coral reefs in the world. In Morombe you can enjoy various activities and make pleasant discoveries. The local population is mainly composed of fishermen from Vezo. They live from fishing. Often you can meet craftsmen on the beach, who work there every day to complete their swinging pirogues. Everything is done by hand with traditional tools and executed.

Day 18: Visit of small villages Andavadoaka and Ambahikily (80 km)

After breakfast we will visit the village of Andavadoaka. It is about 40 km away from Morombe. You will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch we will drive to Ambahikily. It is also 40 km away from Morombe. On the way you will enjoy the beauty of the landscape. All trips are on a country road. In Ambahikily you will discover the cultures of the village and its inhabitants. In the evening we will return to Morombe. Overnight stay at the Auberge chez Laurette, 4-star hotel.

ANDAVADOAKA

It is a rural community in Morombe district. Rice is an important crop for the villagers of Andavadoaka. In Andavadoaka almost all villagers live from fishing.

AMBAHIKILY

It is one of the villages of the Atsimo-Andrefana region, crossed by the National Road 9, which is a country road that takes you to another village that you can visit. These villages still base their production culture on agriculture and livestock breeding. There are wonderful places to discover.

Day 19: Relaxation and sports on the beach

We will spend this day on the beach. After breakfast we will go to the beach to play sports like volleyball and soccer. You will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch you will have the opportunity to relax on the beach and enjoy the sun. Overnight stay at the Auberge chez Laurette, 4-star hotel.

Day 20: Diving and Jet Ski in Morombe

After breakfast we go diving. A diving mask is provided for diving. Under water there is a real aquarium where you can admire the magnificent corals, admiring the magnificent spectacle of anemones, myriads of colorful fish, shells, perches, morays and sea turtles. Day 21: Visit of the Mikea forest and fishing

MIKEA FOREST

The Mikea forest covers an area of about 1,500 km². It is inhabited by geniuses, occult forces, mythical animals and sacred trees, who are the true owners of the place. With its flora and vegetation unique in the world, this forest has always fascinated botanists and amateurs alike. Numerous endemic species are present: squid trees, aloes... Of the 8 species of baobab trees (Adansonia) found in the world, 6 are found in Madagascar, 3 of which have been identified in the forest of Mikea: Adansonia grandidieri (Reniala), Adansonia za (Za) and Andasonia rubrostipa (Fony).

Day 22: Boat excursion and campfire (with scouts and guitar)

After breakfast we will go on a boat excursion by the sea. The sea of Morombe is really compatible with this kind of excursion. You will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch you can relax on the beach. After dinner we will make campfires with scouts, organized by the hotel that welcomes you. Overnight stay at the Auberge chez Laurette, 4-star hotel.

Day 23: Morombe - Ifaty (243 km, about 8.5 hours)

After breakfast we continued to Ifaty. Ifaty is 243 km away from Morombe. The drive takes about 8,5 hours and is on a country road and then on national road 9. After a long drive you can rest in the hotel. Overnight stay in the hotel Le Jardin de l'isle, 3-star hotel.

IFATY

Ifaty belongs to the municipality of Toliara, which has a larger beach where the beach visitor can make wonderful excursions and relax a little. To explore the new nature and the baobab, Ifaty (Mangily) is one of the possible destinations. Several Vezo villages form Ifaty. Fishing is a dominant activity in Ifaty. During a visit to Ifaty you can get to know the fishing villages scattered around the lagoon that stretches along the coast. Many impressive excursions in Ifaty await you. The beach of Ifaty is blossom white, several kilometers long, very shallow, because an offshore 200 km long coral reef protects this section and transforms the otherwise rough sea here into calm, clear water, where swimming and diving is safe, but only possible at high tide. At low tide the water is too shallow.

Day 24: Baobab Ifaty (7 km, ca. 30 Minuten)

After breakfast we drove to the jungle baobab tree. You will see different kinds of baobabs, the largest tree in Madagascar, and other exotic plants. It is not so far from Ifaty, about 30 minutes by car. You will take the Charette, one of the special transports of the island village. The visit takes about 2 hours in total. Lunch will be taken at the hotel. In the afternoon you will relax on the beach. Overnight stay at the hotel Le Jardin de l'Isle, a 3-star hotel.

BAOBAB IFATY

The excursion begins far away from the thorn forest on the coastal road, the bizarre thorn forest of large baobabs and aloe Vera plants. The excursion is done on a small safari with a traditional means of transport Charette. There are also tropical medicinal plants that are frequently used.

25th day: Ifaty - Anakao (268 km, about 1 hour by car and about 1 hour boat ride)

After breakfast we continued to Toliara. The drive takes about one hour. On the way you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape. In Toliara we take a boat to Anakao. In Anakao you will enjoy the beauty of the beach. Overnight stay in the hotel Atlantis Anakao, a 3-star hotel.

ANAKAO

During colonial times Anakao was a busy fishing port, and this is still the main occupation of the villagers today. Every morning just after sunrise, you can see the fishermen setting sail and dozens of tiny sails fluttering across the water. Anakao has some beautiful beaches, and off the coast lies Nosy Ve. This tiny island has a white sand coast and is home to hundreds of tropical birds. The reefs off Anakao offer good diving and surfing opportunities. While snorkeling you can see a myriad of fish, including surgeonfish, angelfish, butterfly fish, groupers and rays.

Day 26: Diving in Nosy Ve

After breakfast we drove to Nosy Ve to dive. Nosy Ve is about 5 km away from Anakao. For diving a diving mask is provided. Underwater there is a real aquarium where you can admire the beautiful corals by watching the magnificent spectacle of anemones, myriads of colorful fish, shells, perches, morays and sea turtles. You will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch you can relax at the hotel. Overnight stay in the hotel Atlantis, 3-star hotel.

NOSY VE

Nosy Ve (also written Nossi-Vey or Nosy-Vey during the French colonial period) is a small coral island three kilometers off Anakao in the extreme southwest of Madagascar with lonely white sandy beaches and low green with little shade. Local taboos (Fady) have left the Nosy Ve unscathed and have provided a safe nesting place for many red-tailed tropical birds. Therefore those who are not afraid to let people come very near.

Day 27: Anakao - Toliara - Fianarantsoa (650 km, boat trip : about 1 hour, car ear : about 8 hours), barbecue in the evening

After breakfast we will go by boat to Toliara. The boat trip takes about one hour. In Toliara we take the jeep to Fianarantsoa. The trip takes about 8 hours. We will have lunch in Ranohira. When we Arrive at the hotel we will have a barbecue. Overnight stay at Lac Hotel Sahambavy, 3-star hotel.

FIANARANTSOA

Among the 6 provinces of Madagascar, Fianarantsoa is one of them. It is located 413 km from the capital Antananarivo and is a large classical city of Madagascar. There are some interesting places that the tourist can visit, such as the Fianarantsoa viewpoint, a view from above, from which you can see the whole city of Fianarantsoa at a glance. This place is especially known by the tourists of Fianarantsoa. There are also beautiful lakes to visit: Anosy, Manovoriaka, Sahambavy.

28. Tag: Fianarantsoa - Antananarivo (413 Km, approx. 8 Stunden) - Europe

Today we will have breakfast earlier, because we are continuing to Antananarivo and the drive takes about 8 hours. We will have lunch in Antsirabe. After lunch the journey continues. As soon as we arrive in Antananarivo, you will be driven to Ivato airport. There you will take the flight to Europe.
